aptain GW was raised on the waters of South Florida. He began fishing the backcountry waters of Everglades National Park in 1985 with his father. Chasing tailing redfish on the flats and working popping corks for trout are some of the memories he has of fishing with his father. At the ripe young age of 20, he set out to fulfill his dream. Becoming a professional fishing guide in the Florida Keys. So he loaded up his truck and moved to Islamorada. Since then he has become an accomplished fishing guide. He has guided his anglers to many accolades such as high point angler, grand champion, high point fly in several tournaments and placed in many others. He has developed many new fly patterns, improved existing flies and knots. He has been featured on ESPN2's Subaru American Outback 2 years in a row. He has been seen in T.V. Commercials, national fishing magazines, catalogs and brochures.
Fishing the calm, clear waters of the Florida Keys and Florida Bay, you seldom experience rough or choppy water. The average depth of Florida Bay is 18" (yes that's INCHES). So sea sickness is not anything to worry about. Capt. GW's boat is a 17'6" Key West Stealth. It has a wide beam and can hold 5 people. Space is limited on a 17' boat so 2-3 adults is comfortable.
Looking to get offshore but don't have a party of six to split the cost or don't want to "share" the boat with some strangers? Captain GW offers private personalized offshore charters for up to 4 anglers. These trips provide more one on one instruction with the Capt. and allow anglers to be part of the "fishing team." His offshore boat, ALL LIT UP, is a 23' Mako powered by a 250hp Yamaha. Custom rigged and ready to catch fish. This smaller sized vessel is faster and more maneuverable that typical charter boats so it gives anglers an advantage to finding and fighting fish. Fishing methods include the "Run and gun", trolling, live baiting, kite fishing and chumming. Species can vary from sailfish and dolphin to kingfish and snapper.
Fishing in the Keys is available year round. Different times of the year provide better conditions for certain species. Whether you are after bonefish, tarpon and permit to trout, redfish and snapper, Capt. GW will tailor your trip to provide you with the best possible fishing situations. Whether you are a veteran fly angler or on your first fishing trip, Capt. GW will be able to accommodate. Capt. GW recommends bringing a camera, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat and if you are fishing in the winter months a light jacket could come in handy.
Kids are always welcome

Parents, if you are looking to get away for a morning or afternoon, Capt GW is a state certified Firefighter and Paramedic. So feel confident they will be in the best of hands if you would like sometime to yourselves. GW is a patient guide who understands the value of getting children involved in the outdoors and promotes strong catch and release values to preserve the resources for generations to come. In fact, Captain GW’s oldest daughter, Makenzie, 5, has already fished in a few tournaments and has trophies to show her outstanding catches.

Airboat Tours Coming soon

An airboat is wind propelled boat using an aircraft type propeller. It is able to go where no other vessels can go.
